Revisions to the Regulations for Agility Trials
Effective January 1, 2010, exhibitors are no longer required to provide proof to Trial Secretaries that their dog has a valid jump height card as part of the check-in process. Furthermore, this change eliminates the need for a copy of the jump height card to be submitted with an entry form.
If a dog is measured by an AKC Field Representative or Volunteer Measuring Official (VMO) and is now eligible to jump in a lower height class, the measurement is effective immediately for any future runs, including any runs (regular or preferred class) which have not yet occurred on the same day that the measurement is recorded. This immediate action does not apply to measurements taken as part of completing the challenge measurement process.
NEW Simplified Jump Height Card Process
When filling out the entry form, there is a new section at the top of the form for exhibitors to designate whether your dog has a valid jump height card or if your dog needs to be measured. Please check the box so that the Trial Secretary knows whether to include your dog on the Dogs To Be Measured List. It is no longer required that you submit a copy of your dog’s jump height card with your entry form or show it during day of show check-in. -
Dogs may be moved up to a higher class at the request of the owner, as a result of qualifying for an agility title.
All pre-show move ups must be received according to the Move-up Date posted on the Premium List cover sheet. The AKC requires move-ups to be in writing. You may send an email for a move-up to the Agility Trial Secretary and it must include all five (5) pieces of the following information:
- Your name
- Your dog’s call name
- The name of the trial
- The date(s) of the trial
- Which class you would like the dog to be moved to
There will be day-to-day move-ups at the show provided the Trial Secretary has received them within 30 minutes after the end of the last class. There will be no move-ups in the morning before the start of the trial.

REGULATIONS FOR AGILITY TRIALS
All exhibitors should obtain a copy of the Regulations for Agility Trials from the American Kennel Club website.SAFETY, BEHAVIOR and LIABILITY
The safety of the dog is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children and are in the care, custody and control of the exhibitor and/or owner at all times.. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create an unnecessary disturbance or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Trial Committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. The Club and its agents, employees, etc., will assume no responsibilities for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children. The Club reserves the right to decline entries for cause and may remove any dog on account of aggression. No one shall have any recourse or claim against the Club or any official thereof.
All dogs must be on leash or otherwise confined at all times when on trial grounds except when in the designated warm-up area or competing on the course (** See New AKC Leash Restrictions Start March 1, 2009). As per AKC Regulations, “Dogs shall be on leash at all times when on the show grounds except in the ring and at the warm-up jump area.”
It is strongly suggested that owners and/or exhibitors follow their veterinarians’ recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations.
By entering this show, exhibitors and agents agree to follow all directions of the special parking attendants charged with arranging and maintaining orderly conditions in all parking areas. Any arguing or abusive language may result in forfeiture of all parking privileges, without refund of fees (if applicable). Such actions may be subject to disciplinary action by the Trial Committee. All parking is at your own risk.
This Club does not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Official AKC entry form for this event.
RINGSIDE
Dogs may arrive any time prior to judging if the dog has a valid temporary or permanent jump height card. Otherwise, they must be available for measuring prior to the start of their class if a VMO or AKC Field Rep is available to measure dogs. All dogs not needed for further judging will be excused.Judges are not required to wait for dogs. The Owner of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when it is to be judged. The Club has no responsibility for providing service through a public address system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required.
It is the responsibility for the exhibitor to have their dog ready to be shown at the entrance of the judging ring when the steward calls for the class. It is not the responsibility of any officer or agent or employee of the Trial Committee to locate any dog when it is time for the dog to be in the judging ring. There is no rule of the AKC that requires a judge to wait for an owner or handler to bring their dog into the ring.
COURTESY
Exhibitors may wear shirts or insignia of their training group if they wish.Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dog(s). Any exhibitor failing to do so may be excused without benefit of refund if the Trial Committee deems the exhibitor to be in violation of this requirement.
SELF-CLEANING GROUNDS
A show committee will be called on anyone not cleaning up after their dog(s). -
